Clothes for Neurodivergent People

The following is our clothing line creation story as told by our creative
director, Keagan Sweeney, in her own words:
“When I was in the fifth grade, my body felt crazy and I had a hard time getting it to listen to me and do what I wanted it to do. To make things worse, it seemed like nobody else ever listened to me either. At school, no one understood my voice. They assumed I didn’t know anything. Just because my body wasn’t working doesn’t mean my mind wasn’t working too!
Then one day I had an idea! I took my pink sequined mini skirt with me to school and shoved it in my pocket. When things were hard and my body felt like it was going to explode, it sure felt good to rub my numb fingers over the sequins back and forth.
It was frustrating and painful when I heard people talking about me all around me, like I wasn’t even there! But when I had my sequins in my pocket, I felt better. I decided this was something I could do for myself, without anyone’s help. I was thankful when my mom sewed it into my pocket so no one could take it away.
It felt good to finally have made a decision for myself AND having a fidget pocket that was always there felt good too. I wanted other kids to feel that way too, so my family started helping me make Fidgetpockets. That’s how it all started. I hope it helps you on your way to find your voice too.”
